In the small village of St. Fiacre, the annual commemoration of the death of the Countess of St. Fiacre is about to take place. The Countess had left the estate to the village, with the stipulation that a mass be said for her soul every year. However, the current owner of the estate, the Countess' daughter, is receiving anonymous letters threatening to reveal a dark secret about her mother on the day of the commemoration. Worried for her safety and the reputation of her family, she seeks the help of Inspector Jules Maigret. Maigret arrives in St. Fiacre and begins to investigate the mysterious threats. He soon discovers that the village holds many long-buried secrets and that the Countess had a tumultuous past. As Maigret delves deeper into the case, he uncovers a web of jealousy, betrayal, and revenge among the villagers. With the commemoration day fast approaching, Maigret races against time to uncover the truth and prevent further tragedy. Along the way, he must navigate the complex relationships and hidden agendas of the villagers, and confront his own personal demons. As the pieces of the puzzle fall into place, Maigret unravels the shocking truth behind the Countess' death and the anonymous threats. The St. Fiacre Case proves to be one of Maigret's most challenging and emotionally stirring cases, as he confronts the darkness that lurks beneath the tranquil surface of the picturesque village.
