A Horse for Summer follows the story of a teenage girl named Summer, who is struggling to cope with the recent loss of her mother. Feeling lost and disconnected, Summer finds solace in spending time with her grandfather, Pop, who owns a horse ranch. Pop sees how much Summer is struggling and decides to gift her a horse named Ginger in the hopes that it will bring her some joy and purpose. Summer is initially hesitant about the idea of taking care of a horse, but she eventually forms a deep bond with Ginger and finds comfort in their companionship. As Summer spends more time at the ranch, she also begins to connect with Pop and the other people who work there, including a kind-hearted stable hand named Buddy. However, their idyllic world is threatened when a wealthy land developer sets his sights on the ranch and is determined to take it over for his own purposes. Summer and her new friends must band together to save the ranch and protect the horses they have come to love. Throughout the journey, Summer learns valuable lessons about love, loss, and the true meaning of family, ultimately finding the strength to overcome her grief and embrace the future with hope and determination.
